Friday Night Picspam and a question

'Sup, all?

I've just been appointed [community profile] punditfic's new evil overlord fearless leader, by virtue of the fact that nobody volunteered.

Here's the agenda I've come up with so far:

1) A brush-up of the tagging system
2) Expanding this community's purpose and identity beyond "being a cheap knockoff of FNFF, with fewer fics and no conversation"
3) More Jon Stewart in a tux

In the interest of fulfilling point #2, I would love to hear what the rest of y'all want to see happening here. There isn't much fakenews/punditry fandom on Dreamwidth yet, so there's no need to break it into niche comms - we can cover pretty much any kind of fannish activity, depending on what you guys are interested in.

The one bright idea I've come up with so far: picspams. Which is why most of the rest of this entry will be dedicated to a picspam of Jon Stewart. (Incidentally, this also addresses point #3.)

Remember the '90s, when we thought that was as stressful as politics could get? Oh, '90s.

The man looks good in a tux.

But he can rock the grey shirt, too.

Or a wetsuit. Or a snowboard. (Stephen wasn't the first one to get into winter sports...)

Pretty, pretty man.

From this point, feel free to:
a) post picspams of your own
b) brainstorm in the comments about what you want to see in [community profile] punditfic in the future
c) wallpaper your house with that last image. (...what?)

Oooh, Jon picspams... this is a fannish activity for which I actually have talent! (Mostly because it requires none.)

I've got so much Jon pictures on my hardrive and no restraint at all, so I'll go thematic in an attempt to not completely bury the Internet under an avalanche of Jon-ness.

So, tonight on [profile] punditfics: 2001, A Fakenews Odyssey

Brought to you by [personal profile] chatananas and Maxwell House.

Maxwell House - Don't drink it after six or you won't be able to go to bed.

On to the pics:

EDIT: Apologies for no tux-ness.

What are your thoughts on a weekly/bi-weekly/monthly challenge of some kind? Like on the first, there's a quote, picture, or scenario of some kind, and people write fics (full-length, perhaps, maybe at least 1,000 words?) to complete it? Then there could maybe be some kind of reward at the end of the year for the person(s) who completed the most challenges.

Or what about theme days? I'm not 100% what the themes could be, though. Hrm. IDK. /randomness

Well, if it's monthly, 1,000 words isn't a lot. I was just thinking about a word minimum to make the challenges distinct from OT ficlets, which are usually no longer than 400 words.

Other thoughts: What about community-wide chats? Maybe live chats for the shows, or for special events, or just for fun?

Theme days: whatever the themes are, they should be interactive. But...I'm kind of lost on specific ideas. Maybe one day could be a meme day, like a survey or drabble offerings or whatnot?

By "this thing" do you mean the challenges, or the community? I'm game for either, if you want help.

Oh, I meant actual chats, like on AIM or something. Just to shake things up.

Definitely! They're interactive, and you can learn a lot about people.

Haha, I will take a mod hat, sure. (I thought the oath was "I solemnly swear that I'm up to no good"? Is that a different oath? =P) (And I've been meaning to link my fic here. I just...keep forgetting. *shifty eyes*)

I actually suck at AIM too. Y!M is my bread and butter. But I think AIM is more popular? Maybe? Which is why I said it. I dunno, 'twas just a thought that might be fun if we can organize it.

...hey, once I have Official Mod Powers, do you mind if I fix the double-commas? With the tags? They make me sad. =P

Done! (They showed up on my personal layout once, so I knew how to best them. =P)

A New Layout contest sounds fun. Good idea.

Hi there!

Since the info says it's OK to post fic about politicians—would it be OK if I posted a fic about the late Supreme Court justice Harry Blackmun? (If there is a Supreme Court fic fandom, I have yet to find it!)
